A 33-year-old man was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,329 (Lm1000) after he pleaded not guilty to perjury.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard Sammy Spiteri plead not guilty to giving false testimony on April 3, in a case against Uanathen Bonsfield presided over by Magistrate Anthony Vella.

The court took into consideration Mr Spiteri's criminal record.

Police Inspector Keith Arnaud prosecuted.

Lawyers Josè Herrera and Carlo Bisazza were defence counsel.
