A man was yesterday charged with stealing over €10,485 (Lm4,500) in jewellery from a couple in 2005.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard Alexander Anthony Gialanzè Whiteford plead not guilty to stealing the jewellery from the couple's residence in Pietà between 2 and 5 p.m. on October 8, 2005. He also pleaded not guilty to handling stolen property and relapsing.

Police Inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.
