This year's Wilson tournament for teams at the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club (VLTC) starts on Monday.

The competition will be played on Mondays (men) and Wednesdays (women). The rubbers will alternate in such a way that players will not always be on court at the same time every week.

The tournament is expected to stretch for six weeks and will be played on a 15-game basis with teams facing each other in a round robin format.

At the end of the first round, the top four teams will be involved in a knock-out round to determine the finalists. The final will be played at the Orienta Court on a Sunday.

Seventy-two men and 36 women are expected to take part in the tournament.

VLTC has in the meantime extended its merchandise agreement with Gordon Asciak, the representative in Malta of the Wilson brand.
