The American Chamber of Commerce in Malta has welcomed "with great satisfaction" the announcement that the treaty for the avoidance of double taxation between Malta and the United States of America has been initialled.

AmCham said it now eagerly looks forward to the final signing of the treaty that would effectively bring it into force.

Hailing the development as a major milestone in Malta's longstanding diplomatic and economic relations with the US, AmCham Malta expressed confidence that the agreement will be conducive to the right conditions for US companies to invest in Malta and envisages significant positive developments in this regard. Likewise, it added, such a measure considerably eases the tax impact for Maltese businesses interested in doing business in the US.
