Man faces serious injury charge

A 26-year-old man has been remanded in custody after pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring a woman in Birzebbuga on Sunday.

Mario Cauchi, of Birzebbuga, also pleaded not guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol, assaulting and insulting the woman.

The man was arraigned before Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna.

Police Inspector Priscilla Caruana prosecuted.

Lawyer Emmy Bezzina appeared for the defendant, while lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared parte civile for the woman.
