Maltese art in international magazine

A Maltese art teacher and artist caught the attention of an established British magazine, which will be showcasing her work in its upcoming publication.

Lynn Parr, editor of the renowned monthly art magazine Artists & Illustrators, noticed the work of Joanne Fenech Portelli when she accidentally came upon the artist's website while browsing the internet.

Ms Parr chose one of Ms Fenech Portelli's paintings to be published in a regular section of the magazine entitled Portfolio, featuring artwork by top contemporary artists each month.

The artist's colourful still life in watercolour, titled Nature's Dessert, was chosen for the May edition.

Ms Fenech Portelli is preparing for an exhibition with Audrey Mercieca in May, Of Faces & Figures, which will show the artists' latest works in portraits and the human figure.

She teaches art in four primary schools at St Thomas More College.
