Driver seriously injured

A 32-year-old man from St Paul's Bay was seriously injured yesterday when the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a van.

The police said the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. in Burmarrad Road, Burmarrad, between a Hyundai Lantra on the way to Qawra and an Izuzu van heading towards Mosta.

Members of the Civil Protection Department freed the car driver from the wreckage.

The 22-year-old driver of the Izuzu was not injured. A taxi behind the Hyundai was also involved but the driver was unhurt.

The road was closed until the damaged cars were cleared.
