The St Andrew's Band Club, together with chaplain Fr Karm Camilleri and the clergy of Luqa, will present Al Martire San Andrea Apostolo, a concert under the patronage of Archbishop Emeritus Guzeppi Mercieca on Saturday at 7.45 p.m. at the parish church of St Andrew, Luqa.

The concert forms part of the celebrations commemorating 125 years since the band club's foundation. The band will execute four works from its repertoire of various composers which it has played along the years.

The first three compositions will feature recollections of the first years of the society - Inno Al Martire San Andrea Apostolo` written by Mro Tomaso Galea in 1886, the first director of the band club; Inno San Andrea Apostolo` written by Mro Gaetano Grech in 1889 and Kantata lill-Appostlu Sant' Andrija that was first performed during the feast of St Andrew in 1913.

The fourth composition is Poema Sagra - Sant Andrija written exclusively for this occasion by the current director Mro Paul Schembri.

Also taking part will be the Amadeus Chamber choir, under the direction of Mro Brian Cefai, soprano Rosabelle Bianchi, tenor Brian Cefai, baritone Ivan Vella and bass Louis Cassar.

George Peresso will be the compere.
