A woman was critically injured early yesterday morning after the van being driven by her husband, who was also injured, was involved in a head-on collision with a car in Żabbar.

The incident occurred in Villa Bate Street at about 4.20 a.m. when a Toyota Vitz, driven by a 26-year-old woman from Fgura, and a Ford Transit, driven by a 65-year-old man, collided head-on.

The man and his 62-year-old wife, both from Marsa, were rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

The police said the woman's condition worsened later in the day.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
