Third group of immigrants this year

A boatload of 28 illegal immigrants landed in Malta yesterday as the fine weather and calm seas persisted.

The immigrants, all men, reached the island's shores on Saturday night and the Armed Forces of Malta escorted them to Haywharf, Floriana, the police said.

Another boatload - again, 28 male immigrants - arrived in Malta on Wednesday; the second this year after another group of 24 were brought ashore in February.

Malta is relying on the EU's patrols to stem the flow of illegal migration and The Sunday Times yesterday reported that these are expected to kick off in the coming days.

It's not even the start of Summer and the emigrants (illegal) are already arriving by the boatloads. When is the EU going to intercept and aid these poor people and make sure that they don't get stuck in Malta, most of them against their will. There isn't much future for them in Malta not to mention Malta as you know is already over populated as it is. I don't have to remind you that you cannot fit five gallons of water in a one gallon can. Or is this one of those welcome to the EU?

it is obviously that these people are coming here in organised groups, probably those who are bringing them here are taking from them all the money they have and promising them a better life. I have nothing against these poor people because their situation is the fault of their economy but we cannot continue keeping them here because we are already over populated. can't people in charge trace who the people involved in bringing them here I' m sure there are Maltese people taking part in this thing.
