The police seized abut 1,100 pirated DVDs and PlayStation games yesterday morning in separate raids at open-air markets.

The police said its Economic Crimes Unit confiscated about 600 pirated DVDs and PlayStation games at the Valletta market, in its first raid.

Later on, the unit carried out another surprise inspection at the Vittoriosa market, where officers seized another 500 pirated DVDs from various stalls.

The police said a number of people were assisting them in their investigations. These are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
