Ministry changes its name

The Ministry of Communications and National Projects has changed its name to the Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications (MITC), the ministry said.

The ministry, headed by Austin Gatt, retains the responsibilities assigned to it after the general election. It is, among other things, responsible for IT, transport and the roads, communications, the Malta Maritime Authority, the Malta Freeport Corporation, the Water Services Corporation, Enemalta, Malta Shipyards and coordination of urban development projects including SmartCity, Grand Harbour and Marsamxett regeneration.
