Some 70 teenagers and adults joined the 40 Lifecycle cyclists on a five-kilometre ride around Ta' Qali yesterday, in preparation for the HSBC Lifecycle Challenge from France to Morocco between August 14 and 25.

The event was held to raise funds for renal patients, while promoting a healthy lifestyle. HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd donated a further €10 (Lm4.29) for every member of the public who participated in the bike ride.

Members of the public who joined the Lifecycle team on the symbolic ride lent their support to the cyclists who are vying to qualify for the challenging summer trip. As the bike ride progressed, the Ta' Qali picnic area was buzzing with activities for the whole family, including a police dog show, pony rides, races and games. Children were kept busy with their own specialised bike circuit and bouncing castle.
