Driver injured in Burmarrad crash

A 32-year-old man from St Paul's Bay was seriously injured this afternoon in a collision involving a taxi, a van and a car which closed Burmarrad Road during the rush hour.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called in to remove the roof of a Hyundai Lantra to free the man, who had been trapped behind the wheel. The Lantra had been involved in a head on crash with the van, an Isuzu. The man was conscious as he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. No one else was injured.

The accident affected rush hour traffic, with long traffic jams having built up. The police advised motorists to use alternative routes through Salina and T'Alla w Ommu hill. The road has since been reopened.
