It is very good to control traffic in Valletta by offering free parking in the evening but the street signs are not very helpful. In fact many of them are misleading, especially when driving from South Street towards the Auberge de Castille. My wife and I were driving up the street and to our surprise we were told that it is one-way.

I was very upset to find out that we were driving up a street which tells you that you can do so (there is a sign near the Valletta police station which says so). So why is it that another police officer near the Auberge told us it is forbidden to drive up the street?

I spoke to other Maltese and they too said that it is misleading. Why not indicate it properly to avoid such mistakes?
