I wonder if any of your readers can help me. About 40 years ago, while on holiday in Malta, I took a photo of a shipwreck somewhere on the southeast coast. The ship appears to be a tanker and she is lying high and dry on a rocky shore her back broken in two - a very sad sight indeed.
What I would like to know is was this result of a navigational error (although I have my doubts, the Mediterranean being virtually non-tidal)?
Or had she been caught up in a storm and was driven by a lee-shore wind to her destruction on treacherous rocks? What was her name? Was there any serious oil spillage and did it affect the natural habitat?
It would appear that the crew would have been able to abandon her without difficulty.
