The reason I became a priest was because I wanted to be a missionary. I spent 10 years in Australia and two years in Italy, but it was last year that I felt I was a real missionary, when I served in Arequipa, Peru.

Working with the poorest of the poor, alleviating the hunger and creating a better world for these innocent families was a dream come true. But was this my real dream? I always asked God to send me as a parish priest in a place where there was not even a place for me to live in. If you pray constantly as I did, God will always grant your wish.

The Bishop of Ayacucho has granted me the parish of Santa Rosa de Lima where there is no church, no roads, no hut for me to live in. The only thing I am grateful for is the satellite Internet which I was told I would be able to hook onto. As you read this in Malta, I will be celebrating my first Mass in the council building. I am going to be the first parish priest in the village's history. I am so proud to be Maltese.

The 16,000 parishioners have only been seeing a priest once a year. I need your prayers and your financial help too. The parish is in the forest, and there are many dangers. Please donate to Oħloq Dinja Aħjar HSBC Bank account 056-165954-050 Fr Anthony Zammit and add your e-mail address when making the deposit and I will confirm your donation. God bless you.
