According to former President of Malta Sir Anthony Mamo, loyalty, honesty and hard work are the keys to success, and these values are forever, not bound to a particular era.

Sir Anthony was speaking during a rare interview he gave to a group of 20 Form 1 students from St Venera Boys' Junior Lyceum, which forms part of Maria Regina College, who visited him at Casa Arkati, Mosta, accompanied by some teachers. The students asked Sir Anthony about the ambitions and aspirations that motivated his successful career.

Sir Anthony advised the students to work hard and do their best in whatever they did, stressing that success was the result of 99 per cent hard work and only one per cent genius. He underlined the importance of education, admitting that he dearly loved the art of teaching. While recommending that the students work hard, he also reminded them to enjoy life. He recalled the great love he had for his home town of Birkirkara and celebrating the feast of St Helen.

During the interview Monica Pisani, one of Sir Anthony's daughters, pointed out that although his high positions and busy agenda restricted the time he had for family reunions, he always managed to dedicate time and attention to his family.
