Luxol favourites to win fourth honour

BUPA Luxol have their sights set on collecting their fourth honour from as many competitions this season when they take on Depiro in the BOV KO final tomorrow afternoon.

Luxol are favourites to prevail over Depiro in light of their dominance in the Gatorade League this season. They are unbeaten since their opening-day upset to Compleet IS who were Luxol's victims in the KO semi-final.

The signing of Marko Matijevic, as a replacement for young playmaker Chris Sammut, has bolstered Luxol immeasurably, giving them more balance and strength underneath the boards.

Shooter Robert Azzopardi has also been a key player for Luxol this season, scoring a string of three-pointers when most needed.

For their part, Depiro have failed to keep up their good start to the season and are now engaged in a fight with Floriana to avoid the drop from the top division.

They have felt the absence through injury of Marco Arsovski and Antoine Costa who is unavailable. These two players, together with captain Roderick Vella, were instrumental in Depiro's victory over the more-quoted Siggewi Smina in the KO semi-finals.

Depiro must show improvement over their last outings if they are to have a decent chance of upsetting Luxol in tomorrow's final.
