Toni Abela confirms bid for MLP deputy leadership post
Toni Abela, former president of the Labour Party, has confirmed he will be a candidate for the post of deputy leader (party affairs) of the Malta Labour Party.
"I will endeavour to carry out this important task with the same enthusiasm and energy that I have shown up to now, and every time a task was entrusted to me," the well known lawyer and broadcaster said.
Dr Abela has been active in the MLP for most of his adult life but was forced out of the party for some years after proceedings were started against him and Wenzu Mintoff before the party's disciplinary board. The two had then worked within Alternattiva Demokratika before they both rejoined the MLP.

P Borg - Don't forget that Toni Abela appeals to people with his mentality and outlook - And of those, unfortunately, there are many.

I think that although he might be a little too bit aggressive, and too much straightforward he has a great mind...

Although Toni Abela can be quite abrasive at times, however I would rather have him on the media, rather than the likes of Manwel Cuschieri, George Vella or Joe Debono Grech who love to indulge in goebbel's style propaganda, which I find really sickening.. On the other hand, Toni sounds genuine although I don't share most of his views. I wish him luck!

Wish him well. The wider the choice of candidates the better. May the best one win.

Can anyone with Labour at heart let me know what benefits Toni Abela brings to the party?
I have my reservations, however I'm very interested to understand how he believes that he's got the support required to gain the deputy leadership post.
