Lifecycle Challenge participants will be joining forces with the Malta Sports Council this Sunday to promote a sports-for-all message before heading to the Family Fun and Health Day at Ta' Qali.
All cyclists and a support team will meet at 8 a.m. at the Bathroom Design Roundabout, Birkirkara, before cycling down to The Strand in Sliema in order to join members of the Malta Cycling Association and other members of the public in the Sport For All campaign organised by the Malta Sports Council.
"Lifecycle is very conscious to support these initiatives and will ride with the group before heading for Ta' Qali where HSBC Life will be organising a health awareness day in aid of Lifecycle," Lifecycle trainer Alan Curry said.
Official training will then start with a 60-kilometre ride around Ta' Qali. This first ride will cover relatively flat ground and the last five-kilometre lap will see families and friends join the cyclists, he said.
During the ride there will be all types of entertainment, including BMX stunt bikes, bouncy castles, a police dog show, food stalls and free health checks.
Those interested in joining this activity are requested to register by sending an e-mail to info@lifecycle challenge.com or phoning 7937 1781.
As part of its support for the activity, HSBC Life will be donating €10 (Lm4.30) for each adult participant.
Lifecycle aims to raise funds for Renal Unit patients at Mater Dei Hospital by embarking on gruelling cycling trips abroad. This year the event will span between August 14 and 25. Anyone interested in learning more about the event may visit the newly-revamped website www.lifecyclechallenge.com, which will be updated daily.
People wishing to donate money can send an SMS on 5061 7378 for €2.33 (Lm1), 5061 8927 for €6.99 (Lm3) or 5061 9219 for €11.65 (Lm5). Cheques and postal orders may be sent to Life Cycle Organisation, c/o Renal Unit, Mater Dei Hospital, Malta.
Direct transfers may be made to HSBC (Malta) account 061 198 792 050 or Bank of Valletta account 148 1452 1017.
