A Libyan national was jailed for two months yesterday after he pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions handed down to him in 2007.

Rashad El-Arabi Mabruk, 35, who lives in Valletta, had been granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,330 (Lm1,000) by Magistrate Edwina Grima in November 2007.

Mr Mabruk yesterday pleaded guilty to breaching the bail conditions last Sunday in Valletta.

The court ordered that the personal guarantee be forfeited and the option of bail was revoked from his pending court case.

The court also ordered that the file of the case on the breach of the bail conditions is sent to the Court Registrar to be inserted into the file of the pending case. The reason is that once he had breached his bail conditions he will remain under arrest until the end of the pending case.

Police Inspectors Anthony Portelli and James Grech prosecuted.

Lawyer Mark Busutill appeared for the defendant.
