Hold-up at Tarxien warehouse

An armed and hooded man yesterday held up the owner of a warehouse in Tarxien and stole a few hundred euros.

The police put the amount at not more than €800 (Lm343.35). The theft occurred at about noon in Triq Ħal Tarxien.

After receiving the cash, the man, who was armed with a firearm, retreated to a waiting vehicle being driven by another hooded man. The vehicle, which had been stolen, was found by the police later.

No one was injured in the incident but a woman who was inside the building suffered from shock.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona appointed a number of experts to assist in an inquiry he has opened.

Police investigations continue.

Is it possible, that the police haven't figured out a way to penetrate and get to such crimes? I know that these things don’t get solved over night but a serious plan to protect people against these criminals should be in place. Hold ups are considered a very violent serious crime and could likely be orchestrated by organized groups.

It is evident that Lotto offices, financial institutions, senior citizens and certain business establishments are the prime targets. What are the police doing to suppress such activities?
