Gozitan artist George Scicluna will be mounting his first Malta exhibition, sponsored by Valletta Fund Management.

Mario de Marco, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, will inaugurate the exhibition on Saturday at the Auberge d'Italie in Merchants Street, Valletta at 7.30 p.m.

Mr Scicluna has taken part in several competitions and won a number of prizes. In 1966 he won first prize in a competition organised by the Brussels-based Demo-Christian Foundation Robert Schumann. He organised four personal exhibitions in Gozo between 1998 and 2004, as well as taking part in an exhibition with Peter Howson, an artist of international stature, in Scotland in 2006.

His art is imbued with passion, and he believes that art, like life, is a divine struggle. Yet in his deep mysticism and spirituality he finds solace and comfort in the suffering of Christ. His art ensues from emotional suffering.
