Following the EU regulators' decision to give airlines the option of allowing the use of mobile phones on European flights, I hope that Air Malta will ignore it.
Given that the majority of Air Malta's flight durations are "relatively" short and that the service (sic) will be available only when the aircraft is above 3,000 metres, I cannot understand why a person would need to contact anybody before their flight has landed.
Mobile phones are the source of much annoyance, and even aggravation, when used in public places such as restaurants, cinemas and theatres and we can well do without them being used on planes.
However, should Air Malta decide to provide this so-called service, I would hope that they will also provide a No Phone Area at least as large as that of the no smoking areas that were available on their flights immediately prior to the smoking ban.
In case anybody thinks that I suffer from "mobilephonebia", let me assure them that I have one which I use in the appropriate circumstances.
