A 21-year-old man was put on probation for three years after he admitted to stealing a Spanish tourist's wallet and mobile phone on Sunday. Matthew Zammit, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to committing the theft from Sprache Cafe in Pembroke at about 9 p.m.

A 21-year-old man was put on probation for three years after he admitted to stealing a Spanish tourist's wallet and mobile phone on Sunday.

Matthew Zammit, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to committing the theft from Sprache Cafe in Pembroke at about 9 p.m. Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard how Mr Zammit had paid back the victim.

Police Inspector Bernard Spiteri prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto represented Mr Zammit.
