Man in danger after trying to escape from police

A 38-year-old man from Fgura is in danger of dying after he jumped from a height as he tried to escape from police custody last night, according to a police statement.

The police said the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. when the man was being escorted by a police officer. He jumped from the police headquarters grounds in Floriana to an area where a trade school is situated, the police said, without giving details. After being treated on the spot by a medical team, he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital in an ambulance. Duty Magistrate Antonio Vella was informed.
