Stompers had some key players missing for this decisive match but no one can take the credit from Kavallieri who regained the league title after beating their nearest rivals in the league standings.

Although some of the younger Stompers are showing great promise, they were still no match for a seasoned Kavallieri team, coached by Richard Beerman.

From the start, the lineouts were all Kavallieri's. Pierre Mangion scored a fine try in the opening minutes to pave the way for his side's victory. Stompers then gave away a penalty and Roderick Attard added three points.

Kavallieri continued to dazzle, covering the pitch from side to side and the ball passing from offload after offload until Robert Bonavia burst through to score.

Further territorial pressure resulted in Bonavia's second burrowing try from a ruck, Christopher Vassallo converted.

The Kavallieri backs, Christopher Vassallo, captain Daniel Grima, Kurt Psaila Montfort and Pierre Micallef, were all running effectively and combining well. Vassallo powered through for a try after a cunning Grima chip. He converted, and Kavallieri were 27-0 ahead at half-time.

Although Stompers looked better, Vassallo regained the initiative after the break with another strong run from defence to set up more attacking platforms. However, some scores were missed through individual play.

Finally, Mark Hutchison was set free for another try out wide.

John Attard came on for Stompers at centre and immediately left his mark as the ever dangerous Luke Debattista went on to score a try.

The superior Kavallieri pack, particularly Adrian Bartolo, Joseph Cutajar and David Borg, quickly restored territorial advantage. Sean Doublesin snapped a quick penalty to zip in for a solo try, converted by Vassallo.

Mangion continued the Kavallieri lineout domination and a trademark driving maul led to Ishmael Borg marking a fine forward try.

Kavallieri's David Borg was yellow carded by referee Steven Busuttil. He had an excellent match as he warms up for his forthcoming international debut.

Dragan Cerketa, of Stompers, was also red-carded as he cracked under the pressure late on.

Debattista then salvaged some pride for Stompers by scoring the final try.

MRFU honorary president, Louis Farrugia, presented the cup to Daniel Grima, the Kavallieri captain.

Referee: Steven Busuttil.

Man of the match: Robert Bonavia (Kavallieri).

This was a rather uninspiring match in which Alligators always looked to have the advantage despite the effort put in by Qormi Sharks.

The fine kicking of Jamie Acheson won him the man of the match accolade yet again.

Alligators finished the first half with a 7-0 lead from a penalty try converted by Acheson, after veteran Robin Parnis England had been tripped.

In the second half, Parnis England and Acheson scored tries. Beppe Sammut continued to improve and Trevor Micallef showed promise for Alligators while Matthew Falzon, of Qormi, left a good impression.

At the end of the encounter, Parnis England announced his retirement from the game.

Referee: Bryan Corlett.

Man of the match: Jamie Acheson (Alligators).

At the end of the match, captain Charmaine Gauci was presented with the Ben Bennett Cup by MRFU vice-president David Smith.
