The value of imports in January was €99.4 million more than the value of exports, widening the trade gap by €44.3 million when compared to the same month last year, the National Statistics Office said. Imports increased by €58.5 million in value while the value of exports rose by €18.1 million. Purchases from the EU accounted for 39.3 per cent of total imports and products and services sold by Malta to EU states made up 24.8 per cent of total exports.
