Libel proceedings withdrawn

The chairman of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, Andrew Calleja, yesterday withdrew libel proceedings against the general secretary of Alternattiva Demokratika, Victor Galea who apologised for comments posted on the party website.

Mr Galea alleged last December that (then) Environment Minister George Pullicino had appointed his chief adviser, Mr Calleja, to chair Mepa.

Mr Galea said yesterday the comments were removed after just a few hours.

Mr Galea apologised for any inconvenience or professional embarrassment he could have caused Mr Calleja who, in turn, withdrew the libel suit against Mr Galea.
