When the introduction of the new parking/driving system in Valletta was being introduced, I had written several times (as well as spoken with members of the committee) against the system. I am noticing that quite a few businesses have left Valletta, resulting in several outlets closing down especially the ones around St Paul Street, side streets of Merchants Street as well as the market.
Even during the day, Valletta is not as busy as it was before.
Can somebody come up with statistics showing how many jobs were lost in Valletta? And how many companies, businesses, moved out of the city? To balance, are there statistics showing how many businesses were thinking of setting up shop in Valletta but did not do so due to the transport problem? Because, let's face it, it is a problem.
If it is shown that things are not quite what was expected, is the system going to be revised?
Personally I think... fat chance.
