Hibs Medsea, the reigning champions, claimed top spot at the end of in the regular season of the Peugeot League following a comfortable victory over Kerygma as the opening phase of the women's championship came to a close last weekend.

Depiro, winners over St James Hospital in their last match, and Luxol, who were not in action last weekend, joined Hibs Medsea in the Championship Pool as the top three contenders lived up to expectations and secured their berths in the decisive stage of the Peugeot League.

Hibs were never in trouble against Kerygma and had already established an assuring 45-11 advantage by half-time. With Kerygma unable to apply any kind of pressure on the leaders, Hibs ran out 88-24 winners.

After winning the BOV KO competition, Depiro extended their positive run to the league and kept St James Hospital at a distance in another one-sided match.

After leading 26-5 at half-time, Depiro opted to administer their lead and control St James's weak challenge before securing the points with a 46-32 win.

In the other half of the classification, Sliema Wanderers finished on a good note as they pummelled bottom-placed SN Suns 79-26.
