August 8 is the day of the opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics. Are we going to be the only nation in the world that does not transmit the ceremony and the events in which our athletes are involved?
In 2008, when information technology seems to have no barriers, I expect my national station to let me watch what the whole world will be watching on that day.
We have been through all this already. When our athletes were competing in The Melbourne Commonwealth Games 2006, we were the only so-called Commonwealth country that did not transmit the opening ceremony or at least the events that our athletes took part in.
In 2004, I managed to travel to Athens to see William Chetcuti competing among the world's best shooters. We were all proud to see him finishing in a shoot-off for the barrage finals. This time, Beijing is out of our reach and we hope that the authorities will do their best to convince PBS to give citizens what is expected by right.
