An AFM Alouette helicopter this afternoon rescued a woman who was trapped on the rock face at Fomm Ir-Rih.

The AFM said its Operations' Centre at Luqa Barracks was alerted at 5.12 p.m.

Dorianne Grasso,26, was located on the cliff some 150 metres above the sea, and could neither move up nor down from her position. Attempts to assist her from land had been unsuccessful.

Rescuers, Bombardiers Ivan Gauci and Brian Xuereb, were winched down from the helicopter to ascertain Ms. Gauci was not injured, and she was then winched onto the rescue helicopter, which was piloted by Staff Sergeant Norbert Fenech.
