A memorandum of understanding was recently signed between the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) and the National Commission Persons with Disability (KNPD) establishing a more formal dialogue to ensure that qualified persons with disability can fully participate in MCAST professional and vocational education and training programmes.

To this end the college and the commission agreed to set up a steering committee and a joint committee to establish an agenda for discussions and actions. The college has entered into similar agreements with other organisations such as the Richmond Foundation.

MCAST, the KNPD and the University of Malta also recently teamed up in an international EU-funded project entitled 'APT-Leonardo - Access to Professional Training for Persons with Disability'. The project aims to make it easier for persons with disability, and other socially disadvantaged groups, to take up University and post-secondary studies.
