Simonds Farsons Cisk plc has appointed Philip Farrugia as general manager of its food importing subsidiary, Quintano Foods Ltd. A graduate in economics, Mr Farrugia has a wealth of experience in the food sector.

For the past six years, he held the post of operations manager at Quintano Foods Ltd. He actively contributed to the planning and implementation process of the extensive new Farsons logistics centre and distribution project within Farsons. Prior to this, he was also directly involved in various projects in the field of change management within the public sector.

Farsons Group CEO Louis A. Farrugia said: "Quintano Foods is looking to the future with optimism for further growth within a very competitive market. This appointment is being made to ensure continuity and dynamism in a company that has shown healthy performance ever since it was incorporated within the Farsons Group."

Philip Farrugia said that his immediate objective is to consolidate the business and build on the company's strengths while exploiting any opportunities that this evolving market offers.

Quintano Foods Ltd is an important component of the Farsons Group. Representing a number of household food brands including Danone, Quaker, LU, Hopla and Tropicana, it has consistently grown ever since its acquisition in 2004.
