Belgian engineers learn about leadership

Lorenzo Mulè Stagno, director of Allied Consultants Ltd and programme director of Henley Malta, was invited for the second year, to deliver a workshop on entrepreneurial leadership in the Masters' class in innovation and entrepreneurship at Vlerick Leuen Ghent Management School in Ghent, Belgium.

The group consisted mainly of engineering professionals from a variety of Belgian and international companies, such as Belgacom, Johnson & Johnson, Philips and Siemens.

During the session, the group discussed topics like the differences and similarities between entrepreneurial, leadership and managerial skills, as well as the relationship between leadership and team dynamics. Other topics covered included the various styles of leadership, whereby attendees could relate to their own tendencies with respect to task and people orientation, and the autocratic, participative or delegative spectrum of leadership.

Mr Mulè Stagno is a director of Allied Consultants, a management training and market research firm, and of BMS, a communications agency. Allied Consultants were recently appointed associates for the Henley MBA in Malta and the North African region, with the first intake of their new programme starting in May.
