Alan Richards, director and deputy chief executive officer at HSBC Australia, has been appointed CEO of HSBC Bank Malta, succeeding Shaun Wallis.

The appointment is subject to formal regulatory approval, the bank said yesterday after the announcement was made during HSBC Malta's annual general meeting, at the Hilton Conference Centre.

Mr Richards has been at HSBC for 24 years.

HSBC Malta chairman Albert Mizzi informed the shareholders that Mr Wallis will be moving to another senior position within the HSBC Group to be announced by London at a later date.
