The government is in the process of reconstituting MEUSAC as a vehicle for ongoing consultation with the social partners on EU-related issues, Chris Said, the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, said today.
MEUSAC - The Malta EU Steering and Action Committee - was originally set up before Malta's accession tot he EU for discussion on the EU membership process.
Dr Said made his comments when this afternoon he had his first meeting with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD).
He underlined the important role of the council and said the government was giving particular importance to public consultation. The council was important in this context because its members represented a wealth of experience across the various sectors of society.
Dr Said said that over the coming four weeks he hoped to have individual meetings with all the organisations represented on the council.
