Miccoli accuses Moggi of marginalising him at Juve

Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Miccoli has accused Luciano Moggi of marginalising him because he did not take his son on as his agent.

Former Juve general manager Luciano and his son Alessandro, head of the Gea World sports agency, are among six men on trial accused of fostering unfair competition through the use of threats or violence. They are suspected of using Gea to manipulate the transfer market for their own gain.Luciano Moggi was also at the centre of the 2006 Italian match-fixing affair.

Miccoli, at Juve in 2003-04 and now with Palermo, said Luciano Moggi had stopped him wearing earrings when other players were still allowed to and that he had tried to make him sign for English Premier League Portsmouth against his wishes.

"The only thing that I could think of to explain this hostility was the fact that I did not accept Alessandro Moggi as my agent," Miccoli told the Rome court on Thursday as a witness.

England coach Fabio Capello was called as a witness on Monday but prosecutor Luca Palamara was unhappy with his answers and has threatened to charge him with withholding information. A formal charge against the 61-year-old Italian has yet to be brought.
