The exeucutive council and the parliamentary group of the Nationalist Party this evening decided by secret vote on the six seats to be vacated by candidates who were elected from two districts at the general election.
Lawrence Gonzi will give up his seat on the second district, where it appears that Stephen Spiteri is best placed to win the seat in the casual election.
Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando will give up his seat on the seventh district, where Philip Mifsud starts as favourite.
Tonio Borg will give up the seat in the 11th district, where the contest will be between Charlo Bonnici and Shirley Farrugia.
Tonio Fenech will give up his seat on the 12 district, opening up a possibility for former minister Censu Galea or Robert Cutajar.
Robert Arrigo will give up a seat on the ninth district and Dolores Cristina on the tenth district. The situation here is more complex since most candidates are common for both districts. However those in the running appear to be former minister Michael Frendo, former MPs Joe Falzon and Franco Galea and Valletta mayor Paul Borg Olivier.
