Four accused of assaulting policemen

Four men were this morning arraigned in court and charged with assaulting three police officers following a road rage incident. The men are: Carmel Vassallo, 37 and Shaun Farrugia, 21, of Rabat, and Anton Galea, 22 and Charles Grima, 30, of Mtarfa.

Four men were this morning arraigned in court and charged with assaulting three police officers following a road rage incident.

The men are: Carmel Vassallo, 37 and Shaun Farrugia, 21, of Rabat, and Anton Galea, 22 and Charles Grima, 30, of Mtarfa.

The four were accused of assaulting three policemen in Rabat on Monday evening and disobeying their orders. Mr Grima alone was further charged with littering.

The men pleaded not guilty and were granted bail against a personal guarantee of €500 each.

Police Inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted while lawyers Jose Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for the men.
