Football viewers in Malta have for a number of years now enjoyed the services of Melita TV network's efficient services to follow most of FIFA's events.

Recently, this monopoly has been broken by seemingly equally professional services this time offered by Go in certain, so far, limited areas of football events.

Unfortunately, this means that consumers now need to subscribe to more than one service at the same time but as long as football viewers are given a good service there would be little room for complaint.

Against this backdrop may I however point out that whereas most Melita services are available via internet and on the phone, Go seem to trust IT and their consumers much less. There is no e-service on the Go website and a call to the company freephone directs consumers to go in person to one of two outlets where queues are the order of the day. The kind lady on the phone explains that for security reasons one has to apply in person.

In this time and place where e-services in Malta seem to be on the forefront in Europe, isn't it awkward that the owners of Go, themselves very much in front in IT, should offer such a poor and old-fashioned service and showing so little faith in the system they promote?
