The Bay Street complex in St George's Bay will be hosting a fundraising event today, in aid of the mission fund project in Tanzania.

This year, mission fund volunteers will be travelling to Mwanza in Tanzania to carry out construction works at a centre for HIV positive children. The centre is run by a Maltese nun, Sr Domenica Giliberti.

A container with donated medicines, food and equipment required for building and related works is currently being assembled. Today's activities start off with a performance by Olivia Lewis at 11 a.m. followed by a show by the police dogs. The events start at 3.30 p.m. with a performance by Rita Pace, followed by Corinne Turner, J Anvil, the Pro Touch Dancers, Priscilla Psaila and Fiona and Friends.

The Mission Fund was established 24 years ago and assists 223 Maltese missionary stations in 40 countries by sending regular €1,200 donations on a roster basis.

The Mission Fund also selects a particular project every year and prepares a group of 25 people, who travel to a missionary station to work on the selected project.
