Praiseworthy hospital care
The other day, I was admitted to the emergency department at Mater Dei Hospital suffering from severe abdominal pain. Following several tests, I started a blood transfusion. Due to the amount of blood I needed, I had to spend the night in hospital.
A medical condition I have been suffering from requires that I change my clothes often at night due to excessive sweating. Since the nurse had previously shown me how to change while the blood transfusion was taking place, I proceeded to the bathroom to change yet again.
The procedure is quite time consuming and I had to do it standing up. I was very weak after two sleepless nights and a day of fasting. Needless to say, I would have appreciated it if a stool were available in the bathroom for use by patients.
I encourage the hospital authorities to consider placing a stool in all the bathrooms as this is much needed by patients.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the doctors and nurses who took great care of me while I was at the emergency department.
Their dedication is to be praised by all. A word of thanks goes also to all the generous blood donors. I never forget them in my prayers and may God bless them all.
