Dwejra monstrosity (1)

After reading the brief paragraph in The Times regarding work being stopped on the construction site at Dwejra, I drove down there to have a look for myself. I was absolutely speechless and I thought readers would like to see what the site actually looks like.

Please don't be as shocked as I was. Apparently this monstrosity was constructed very quickly over the Easter weekend!

If it is only "possible that there are deviations from the approved plans", then a few people in Mepa who passed the plans in the first place deserve to be tarred and feathered or worse.

However, to be fair, this action may be the beginning of a new era where Mepa really cares... I shall look forward to seeing some positive results, but I won't be holding my breath.

It is incredible how such an intrusive structure could have been allowed to come up in such a sensitive area. One would expect either a low rise unintrusive construction - or better still turning one of the several buildings already on site into an interpretative centre (why add another cafe when there are already one or two in the area?). If this nonsense repeats itself on the Majjistral Park then heaven help us! I sincerely hope the PM will soon take MEPA under his wing and stop this sort of outrageous "development"

What a shame! What an atrocity! How stupid of us ruining our own country! I demand that this stupidity is corrected within a month and the area is restored to its original state at the developer's expense. Let's start to show that MEPA is being reformed.

Thumbs up to MEPA for waking up and realising that YES, there are abuses going on. However, now that this construction has been stopped, will this half-built monstrosity be left there for all eternity ?
