Bay Street in St Julians will be hosting a fund-raising event in aid of the Mission Fund on Saturday and Sunday.

Mission Fund volunteers will, this year, travel to Mwanza, in Tanzania to carry out construction work at a centre run by Sister Domenica Giliberti, a Maltese, for HIV+ children.

A container with medicines, food and equipment needed for building and related works is being assembled. On Saturday, the events start at 6 p.m.

The Mission Fund, established 24 years ago, assists 223 Maltese missionary stations in 40 countries by sending regular €1,200 (Lm515) donations on a roster basis.

The fund selects a particular project every year and prepares a group of 25 people who travel to a missionary station to work on that project.
