GWU denies claims about its media

The GWU has denied claims in the PN media that it is stopping the publication of correspondence in its newspapers because they make reference to particular persons who will stand or have shown an interest in standing for the MLP leadership. The PN media made those allegations with regard to George Abela, the union's former legal adviser.

The union said that while it was responsible to ensure that its views were reflected in its own newspapers, it was then up to the editors to decide what was published, whether that involved articles or correspondence.

The union said that while it had a right for its own opinion as a national organisation , it felt it would be wiser to allow the leadership process to follow its natural course in a transparent manner without involving itself in speculation on who will, or will not, stand for election.

The GWU said it was ensuring that what was reported was factual and not speculation.

Please, can you leave the Labour Party decide on its own who it wants to be Leader? This none of other people's business. No body has the right to interfere in core decisions of a Club in which he or she is not a member!!!

Since when the GWU through its' media outlets started to reporting only on factual events. Or this is a new virtue that it discovered since Dr, George Abela announced on national television that indeed he is interested in seeking the leadership of the MLP. If that is not factual then what it is?

Who is the GWU trying to fool. By your press release you are addressing the general poulation and not a segment of the maltese society.

No Body is saying or stating that the GWU doesn't have the right for its own opinion as a national organisation. But for any sensible person the news of Dr. George Abela that he is interested in seeking the leadership of the MLP is more news worthy that that of any other canditate. I say this with all due respect to the other canditates.

When is the MLP and GWU going to change. Both organisations can hide the truth from some of the people, but not all the people.
