There are nearly I,000 types of bats. Bats use their ears more than their eyes. Bats look like mice with wings. Bats eat insects, fruit, fish, frogs and tiny mammals. They hunt at night. Bats live in caves, trees and sometimes in buildings. Bats have five fingers. The fingers of the bat are in the wings and there is a thumb at the top. Bats sleep upside down. Bats don't like dusty places. Bats are clean animals. They won't attack you. They are intelligent, gentle animals. When bats squeak, they know how far or near things are. When bats are one year old, they are adult.

Bats do not damage buildings. When it is cold bats hibernate or migrate. There is a bat called a vampire bat.
