Hold them to account

After some heavy mudslinging, I feel that unless all the echelons of the Labour Party resign to make way for a new beginning, including radio commentator Manuel Cuschieri, there will be no light at the end of the tunnel for the MLP. This will only invite another long period on the opposition benches.

Alfred Sant should face an inquiry. Legal action must be taken without fail not only against whoever is proven corrupt but also against those who concoct accusations. Irrespective of their DNA.

Maria Dolores, Dr. Sant will face libel suits for calling Dr. Gonzi and his Cabinet corrupt.
If Dr. Sant is such a gentleman, he should NEVER have accused the Prime Minister of being corrupt, especially in public. If he had any inkling of any corruption, he should have raised the issue in Parliament - he had five full years to declare any knowledge of corruption, but he didn't. So, let us assume for a moment that there was something wrong, why did he not go to the police? Withholding information is interfering with the law, as I understand it, and therefore he or anyone else would become an accomplice.
When questioned about this very subject on Xarabank, Dr. Sant found a lame excuse and said, "Why should I? I do not have a position of authority to do that!" Immediately he became aware of the childish response and said that one reason was that the Police Commissioner was just a paraventu!!!
I think that those living in glass houses should not throw stones.

Would you believe that Manuel Cuschieri's radio programme has just been given the green light to carry on? Is there really any hope for change in the MLP?
Maria Dolores Fenech (on 26/3/08)
At least Dr Sant has NEVER been found guilty up till now that he was not telling the truth; unlike Dr EFA...... We should be grateful to Dr Sant for exposing those who posed as green politicians while 'trying' to spoil Mistra.

I get this distinct impression that the Gonzipn game-plan was based on an understanding that the NP could not very well rely on the 'team' to score maximum points and had to rely on the public perception of one man to carry the rest. Was this because the mud slinging campaign of previous years had its toll or was it an informed perception of the electorate who could distinguish between the clean performance of Dolores Cristina from other performances? In my opinion, the mudslinging that Mr Camilleri refers to was accompanied by a good dose of uncontested facts. What surprises me at this juncture is a feeling that we are now putting the ethical and legal aspects of behavior into one basket. To me this is desperate defending on the goal line. Please set free once again the fresh breeze of democracy and let us not defend individuals who have let the country, their constituents, and especially themselves down.

Charles Camilleri (on 26/3/08)
it is only a shame that libel cases take so long to be heard before our courts. Then we will all know who is right or wrong. Something must be done about this by the new minister.
Noel Cutajar (on 26/3/08)
Here we go again...Mr J. Camilleri tactics of mudslinging. Can he illuminate us to why they should be held accountable? on Mistra as an example? Yes, you are right they should be held accountable for spilling the truth and damaged the green man's reputation as the green man of the year...Though, I like his comment..."irrrespective of their DNA" whatever it means...Let me rephrase...Alfred Sant should be in an inquiry...legal action should be taken without fail on those who are corrupt and the rest...see Mistra case and all the story that will follow in the next few days. Iva flimkien kollox possibli.

Mud slinger? What mud slinging? To the intelligent it is seen as uncovering of sleaze.
Mud slinging is the content of John Camilleri's poor excuse for a contribution.
Alfred Cassar (on 26/3/08)
Victor, all Ministers in the previous cabinet, and a good number of PN candidates and MP's were mentioned in the famous 'Vote Gonzi, get .......' advert published daily in The Times.
Even new candidates like Georg Sapiano, managed to get in this advert, I don't know for what reason. Isn't that mudslinging?
You state that 'Sant and MLP are being proved right' ..... to date no one has been proved right, we need to wait a bit longer to comment concretely on the JPO case. However being proven right on just one case (possibly) does not justify all that mudslinging campaign like the one we just had.
Joe Martinelli (on 26/3/08)
Can Mr. Laiviera quote an instance when one of his ex-leader's accusations was true?
We shall wait a bit to see how many of the dozen or so libel suits against Dr. Sant go in his favour and how many against.
Joe Vella (on 26/3/08)
Mr. Victor Laiviera, could you please give me some concrete cases that have been proven in a court of Law.

Victor Laiviera (on 26/3/08)
Could Mr Camilleri please be a bit more specific and mention some concrete examples o accusations which were proved to be untrue?

My impression is that Sant and the MLP are being proved right with every day that passes.
